“This year’s festival will be spectacular,” stated City of Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman. “With such a great variety, the Las Vegas Film Festival has gained international recognition bringing independent filmmakers, screenplay writers, actors and actresses, supporting cast, and, of course, fans from around the world to our exciting city.”

Kicking off this year’s festival is the Las Vegas premier of Holy Rollers, an Official Selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, starring Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland), Justin Bartha (The Hangover), Ari Graynor, Danny A. Actors from the film will appear at the premier on June 4 and during the Festival’s opening night party. “As an actor, film producer and veteran in the Las Vegas entertainment business with The Light Group, I’m honored to have Holy Rollers open the Las Vegas Film Festival,” said Danny A. Abeckaser. Holy Rollers will mark its theatrical release in Las Vegas on June 25.

Henson and Ed Harris; Quantum Tamers, a documentary featuring world-renowned theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking; and Ashley’s Ashes, a feature film starring Lee Arenberg, Daniel Baldwin, Willie Garson, Clint Howard and Craig Sheffer.

In addition to the film screenings, the event will host exclusive Las Vegas premieres, red carpet parties, an interactive filmmaker panel, a screenplay competition and an awards ceremony. The Festival will showcase feature films, shorts, foreign films, documentaries, and animation highlighting the talents of some of the newest and brightest cinematic innovators in the business.

New to this year’s festival are two student film blocks showcasing a collection of short films by student filmmakers from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the College of Southern Nevada.

“The mission of the film festival is to help filmmakers reach the broadest audience possible and to connect with other aspiring filmmakers and industry professionals,” said Las Vegas film Festival Director of Operation Milo Kostelecky. “We want to promote Las Vegas as a major filmmaking center and showcase a diverse range of films that will offer something for everyone.”

All films will be competing for several prestigious festival awards including the Grand Jury Prize sponsored by Harney Harwood and the coveted Audience Award sponsored by Acrylic Tank Manufacturing.
