ALEJANDRO GONZÁLEZ IÑÁRRITU’S “BIRDMAN” HAS BEGUN PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Ryan and Andrea Riseborough to star

LOS ANGELES, CA April 16, 2013 – Fox Searchlight Pictures and New Regency announced today that principal photography on Alejandro González Iñárritu’s black comedy, BIRDMAN, began on April 15^th in New York City.  They will co-finance the picture with Worldview Entertainment.  Iñárritu co-wrote the script with Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, and Armando Bo.  The film stars Michael Keaton, Lindsay Duncan, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts.  The film will be a New Regency production with Iñárritu and John Lesher serving as producers.  Worldview Entertainment’s Christopher Woodrow, Molly Conners and Hoyt David Morgan will executive produce alongside Jim Skotchdopole.  The film will be produced by New Regency and Fox Searchlight Pictures will handle marketing and distribution.

Four UNLV Film Graduates Accepted into the American Film Institute for Fall 2013

Las Vegas, Nev. - Four UNLV film graduates were recently accepted into the American Film Institute (AFI) for Fall 2013. This, along with last year's acceptances, makes the UNLV film program the most represented of any other American undergraduate program at AFI.

 The UNLV film graduates are Stephanie Perez - Editing Fellow; Brian Merrick - Editing Fellow; Craig Boydston - Cinematography Fellow; and Constanza Castro - Producing Fellow.

COLUMBIA PICTURES ACQUIRES DAVID AYER’S “FURY” STARRING BRAD PITT

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 10, 2013) – Columbia Pictures has acquired domestic distribution and a good portion of the available international distribution rights to David Ayer’s epic war film FURY, with Brad Pitt set to star in the leading role, it was announced today by QED International CEO Bill Block and Doug Belgrad, President of Columbia Pictures. QED is producing the film with John Lesher’s Le Grisbi Productions and Ethan Smith. Alex Ott is co-producing the feature with Ayer. Principal photography is set to begin in September 2013 and Columbia anticipates releasing FURY on November 14, 2014.

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT STARTS PRODUCTION ON FUTURISTIC ACTION ADVENTURE "DIVERGENT"

Santa Monica, CA – April 8, 2013 – Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF) company, announced today that principal photography has commenced in Chicago on the highly anticipated feature film adaptation of DIVERGENT, starring Golden Globe nominated Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Academy Award® winner Kate Winslet. The studio also announced that Ray Stevenson and Mekhi Phifer will join a stellar young cast including Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, Christian Madsen, and Amy Newbold.  The futuristic action adventure, based on author Veronica Roth’s New York Times best seller, will be directed by Neil Burger from a script by Vanessa Taylor.  The original draft of the script was written by Evan Daugherty.  Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing the project via their Red Wagon Entertainment banner along with Pouya Shahbazian.  Red Wagon’s Rachel Shane is executive producing, alongside John J. Kelly.  Summit will release the film theatrically in North America in THE HUNGER GAMES slot on Friday, March 21, 2014.
