COLUMBIA PICTURES ACQUIRES DAVID AYER’S “FURY” STARRING BRAD PITT

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 10, 2013) – Columbia Pictures has acquired domestic distribution and a good portion of the available international distribution rights to David Ayer’s epic war film FURY, with Brad Pitt set to star in the leading role, it was announced today by QED International CEO Bill Block and Doug Belgrad, President of Columbia Pictures. QED is producing the film with John Lesher’s Le Grisbi Productions and Ethan Smith. Alex Ott is co-producing the feature with Ayer. Principal photography is set to begin in September 2013 and Columbia anticipates releasing FURY on November 14, 2014.

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT STARTS PRODUCTION ON FUTURISTIC ACTION ADVENTURE "DIVERGENT"

Santa Monica, CA – April 8, 2013 – Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF) company, announced today that principal photography has commenced in Chicago on the highly anticipated feature film adaptation of DIVERGENT, starring Golden Globe nominated Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Academy Award® winner Kate Winslet. The studio also announced that Ray Stevenson and Mekhi Phifer will join a stellar young cast including Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, Christian Madsen, and Amy Newbold.  The futuristic action adventure, based on author Veronica Roth’s New York Times best seller, will be directed by Neil Burger from a script by Vanessa Taylor.  The original draft of the script was written by Evan Daugherty.  Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing the project via their Red Wagon Entertainment banner along with Pouya Shahbazian.  Red Wagon’s Rachel Shane is executive producing, alongside John J. Kelly.  Summit will release the film theatrically in North America in THE HUNGER GAMES slot on Friday, March 21, 2014.

“THE MONUMENTS MEN,” DIRECTED BY AND STARRING GEORGE CLOONEY, BEGINS PRODUCTION IN GERMANY

BERLIN, Ger., March 5, 2013 – Columbia Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox announced today that The Monuments Men, a Smokehouse production directed by and starring George Clooney, has started production in Berlin, Germany.  The action-thriller is written by Clooney & Grant Heslov, based on the book by Robert M. Edsel with Bret Witter.  Clooney and Heslov also produce the film through their Smokehouse Productions.  It is their first production since winning the Academy Award® for Best Picture for their work on Argo.  Barbara A. Hall is executive producer. The Monuments Men is a co-production with Germany’s Siebente Babelsberg Film GmbH, a subsidiary of Studio Babelsberg AG.  Charlie Woebcken, Christoph Fisser and Henning Molfenter serve as co-producers.  Sony Pictures will release the film domestically, with Twentieth Century Fox handling international territories.
