WRITER/DIRECTOR SHANE BLACK TO MAKE “DOC SAVAGE” FOR SONY PICTURES AND ORIGINAL FILM

CULVER CITY, Calif., May 7, 2013 – Sony Pictures Entertainment has closed its deal with Shane Black to co-write and direct Doc Savage, and Black is eyeing it as his next film, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of Production for the studio.  Black co-wrote the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, based on the hero of pulp novels, films, and comic books.  Neal H. Moritz is producing the project with Ori Marmur through his Original Film banner. Michael Usland will also serve as a producer on the film.

Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Ryan and Andrea Riseborough to star

LOS ANGELES, CA April 16, 2013 – Fox Searchlight Pictures and New Regency announced today that principal photography on Alejandro González Iñárritu’s black comedy, BIRDMAN, began on April 15th in New York City.  They will co-finance the picture with Worldview Entertainment.  Iñárritu co-wrote the script with Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, and Armando Bo.  The film stars Michael Keaton, Lindsay Duncan, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts.  The film will be a New Regency production with Iñárritu and John Lesher serving as producers.  Worldview Entertainment’s Christopher Woodrow, Molly Conners and Hoyt David Morgan will executive produce alongside Jim Skotchdopole.  The film will be produced by New Regency and Fox Searchlight Pictures will handle marketing and distribution.

Las Vegas, Nev. - Four UNLV film graduates were recently accepted into the American Film Institute (AFI) for Fall 2013. This, along with last year's acceptances, makes the UNLV film program the most represented of any other American undergraduate program at AFI.

 The UNLV film graduates are Stephanie Perez - Editing Fellow; Brian Merrick - Editing Fellow; Craig Boydston - Cinematography Fellow; and Constanza Castro - Producing Fellow.

COLUMBIA PICTURES ACQUIRES DAVID AYER’S “FURY” STARRING BRAD PITT

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 10, 2013) – Columbia Pictures has acquired domestic distribution and a good portion of the available international distribution rights to David Ayer’s epic war film FURY, with Brad Pitt set to star in the leading role, it was announced today by QED International CEO Bill Block and Doug Belgrad, President of Columbia Pictures. QED is producing the film with John Lesher’s Le Grisbi Productions and Ethan Smith. Alex Ott is co-producing the feature with Ayer. Principal photography is set to begin in September 2013 and Columbia anticipates releasing FURY on November 14, 2014.
