LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Twentieth Century Fox and Walden Media, in association with Operation Christmas Child and Regal Cinemas, today announced the winner of THE CHONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER / OPERATION NARNIA “Hometown Premiere Challenge.” The winner is Christian Academy in Louisville, Kentucky.

“We want to thank you for helping us give Christmas to needy children around the world. We are on track to exceed the previous year's shoe box gift donations from the U.S. and are excited to have partnered this year with 20th Century Fox and Walden Media.”

Among the competing organizations and groups, Christian Academy created the most shoebox-sized gift boxes for needy children worldwide. The students will host a special premiere event and screening of the film, which will be attended by two of the film’s stars – Georgie Henley and Skandar Keynes. The event will take place on December 9th at The Regal Hamburg Pavilion 16 cinemas in nearby Lexington.

“Congratulations to Christian Academy of Louisville,” stated Randy Riddle, Domestic Director of Operation Christmas Child. “We want to thank you for helping us give Christmas to needy children around the world. We are on track to exceed the previous year's shoe box gift donations from the U.S. and are excited to have partnered this year with 20th Century Fox and Walden Media.”

Last year, Operation Christmas Child delivered more than 8 million shoebox gifts to needy children around the globe. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, the international relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project, has hand-delivered gift boxes in over 130 countries to more than 77 million children. For many of these children, these are the first presents they’ve ever received.

For the first time ever, Operation Christmas Child has partnered with a motion picture event -- Twentieth Century Fox and Walden Media’s holiday film THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER – in a global effort that is brining Christmas to needy children throughout the world, through the collection and hand delivery of special holiday gifts.

Although the contest is over, there is still time to build a box for needy children. To learn more about the film and the Christmas project including how to pack an Operation Christmas Child gift boxes, visit www.samaritanspurse.org/occ or www.operationnarnia.com.

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER, in 3D, returns audiences to the hope and wonder of C.S. Lewis’ beloved world – via the fantastic Narnian ship, the Dawn Treader. In this holiday motion picture event, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace, are swallowed into a painting and transported back to Narnia and the magnificent ship the Dawn Treader. They join King Caspian and a warrior mouse named Reepicheep for a mission which holds the fate of Narnia itself. The courageous voyagers overcome their own greatest temptations, as they travel to mysterious islands; have fateful confrontations with magical creatures and sinister enemies; and reunite with their friend and protector, the “Great Lion” Aslan. The film opens in theaters everywhere December 10th.
