ARNON MILCHAN TO RECEIVE “LEGEND OF CINEMA” AWARD AT CINEMACON

WASHINGTON D.C.  (April 6, 2016) – Arnon Milchan will be honored with the "Legend of Cinema” Award, it was announced today by Mitch Neuhauser, Managing Director of CinemaCon. CinemaCon, the official convention of The National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), will be held April 11 - 14, 2016, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Milchan will receive this special honor during the filmmaker luncheon, taking place on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

“For almost 40 years Arnon Milchan has produced some of the most iconic and memorable films of all time including ‘The King of Comedy’, ‘Once Upon a Time in America,’ ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘Heat’, ‘L.A. Confidential’, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’, ’12 Years a Slave’, ‘Birdman’ and of course, ‘The Revenant’. And as incredible as this may sound, that’s only the tip of the iceberg,” noted Neuhauser. “Theater owners from around the world owe Arnon Milchan an unbelievable debt of gratitude for bringing great films to their screens and we are honored to present him with this special ‘Legend of Cinema’ Award."

In true tradition, this year’s filmmaker luncheon will feature a discussion with producers Arnon Milchan, Mary Parent  and cinematographer Emmanuel ‘Chivo' Lubezki on the creative process behind 20th Century Fox/ New Regency's “The Revenant.” Past filmmakers who have been on hand for this annual CinemaCon event include Clint Eastwood, Ang Lee, Martin Scorsese, James Cameron, Oliver Stone, Christopher Nolan, Sam Raimi, Guillermo del Toro, Jeffrey Katzenberg and George Lucas.

Arnon Milchan is widely renowned as one of the most prolific and successful independent film producers of his time, with over 100 feature films to his credit. After the incredible successes of his films “Pretty Woman” and “The War of the Roses,” Milchan founded New Regency Productions and went on to produce countless critical and box office successes including “J.F.K,”  “A Time to Kill,” “Free Willy,” “The Client,” “Tin Cup,” “Under Siege,” “The Devil’s Advocate,” “The Negotiator,” “City of Angels,” “Entrapment,” “Fight Club,” “Big Momma’s House,” “Don’t Say a Word,” “Daredevil,” “Man on Fire,” “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “What Happens in Vegas,” “Love and Other Drugs,” “Noah” and “Gone Girl.” In 1998, Milchan received an Academy Award® nomination for producing the film “LA Confidential.” He served as producer of back-to-back Academy Award® Best Picture winners “12 Years A Slave” (2014) and “Birdman” (2015), as well as this years’ multiple Oscar® winner “The Revenant” (2016).

In addition, Milchan brought on board partners who share his vision, one of which is Twentieth Century Fox. Fox distributes Regency movies in all media worldwide, except in international pay and free television where Milchan has taken advantage of the growing television and new media marketplace. Milchan has also successfully diversified his company’s activities within the sphere of entertainment, most specifically in the realm of television through Regency Television (“Malcom in the Middle” and “The Bernie Mac Show”) and sports where the company was once the largest shareholder of PUMA, the worldwide athletic apparel and show conglomerate based in Germany, which was later sold after a successful re-branding in 2003.
