Jessica Chastain to Receive Nova Award at 2013 Maui Film Festival at Wailea

Wailea, HI (May 21, 2013) – Jessica Chastain will be the 2013 Maui Film Festival Nova Award recipient, it was announced today by Barry Rivers, Director of the event, which will be held June 12-16, 2013, at the Wailea Resort in Maui. The Maui Film Festival Nova Award honors a film artist for their astonishingly original and seamless performances, and the way they consistently infuse each character that they embody with insight, humanity and wisdom. All awards will be presented at the Celestial Cinema located at the Wailea Gold & Emerald Golf Course. 

"Few film artists are as talented and versatile as Jessica Chastain. She has made this clear in the range of characters she has brought to life in her chameleon-like silver screen performances," Said Rivers. "Jessica is one-of-a-kind and we couldn't be more pleased to honor her with the 2013 Maui Film Festival Nova Award."

In 2011, Chastain starred as Celia Foote in THE HELP, which earned her numerous awards nominations most notably for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG Award and BFCA Critics' Choice Award. The same year, she starred in the Oscar nominated drama TREE OF LIFE. In 2012, Chastain starred in ZERO DARK 30, which garnered several awards, including the BFCA Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actress, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, and her second consecutive Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Other previous cinematic works include: MAMA, LAWLESS, MADAGASCAR 3: EUROPE’S MOST WANTED, THE DEBT, and TAKE SHELTER. Due for release in the coming year, Chastain plays the starring role in THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY and will also be featured as the lead in the drama MISS JULIE, due in 2014.
